Oct. 18, 2018 -- Dennis Livesay, dean of the Graduate School, associate vice president for Research and Technology Transfer, and professor of chemistry at Wichita State University, has been named the new dean of WSU's College of Engineering, effective Jan. 1.

Oct. 5, 2018 -- Retired Lt. Colonel Larry Burks is the new director of Military and Veteran Services at Wichita State University.

Oct. 2, 2018 -- Wichita State University has been awarded $813,000 to boost enrollment and retention of students under-represented in science, technology, engineering and math. The funds are part of a larger $3 million, five-year National Science Foundation grant awarded to Kansas State University, which is sharing grant funds with a statewide coalition of universities and community colleges.

Sept. 27, 2018 -- After months of anticipation, Fuzzy's Taco Shop confirmed plans to open a restaurant in Braeburn Square, the new retail complex at Wichita State University. Next summer Fuzzy's will join Starbucks and the Shocker Store in the development near 21st and Oliver.

Wichita State alum Ty Tabing is a "place-maker" and, starting with Braeburn Square, he wants to use the university's academic and arts activities to invite people to campus.

Sept. 21, 2018 -- The WSU Board of Trustees met Friday, Sept. 21, and were given a report on the campus from John Tomblin, vice president of research and technology transfer.

At Wichita State, that means researching and analyzing two areas - the next generation of medium-sized helicopters and the next generation of tactical unmanned aerosystems for the Army.

Aug. 2, 2018 -- The Shocker Store (formerly University Bookstore) will be opening a 2,840-square-foot location in the new Wichita State University retail area, Braeburn Square

July 19, 2018 -- It's the start of a new tradition: Starting this fall, Wichita State will have a marching band. The new band will include brass, saxophone and a drum line.

June 26, 2018 -- Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers and Panda Express are coming to the Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State this fall.

July, 2017- Billy Martin, director and research scientist at the NIAR Environmental Test Lab, has invented a prototype that protects wind turbines from multiple lightning strikes.

March 14, 2017 - A full-service Starbucks is open at Wichita State University's Innovation Campus.

March 1, 2017 - Wichita State University is in negotiations with the Greater Wichita YMCA for a possible Y to be built on WSU's Innovation Campus.

February 27, 2017 - Sheryl Burgstahler spoke to Wichita State faculty and staff about applying the Universal Design approach to instruction.
